Bethlehem means house of bread. Jesus is the Bread of Life. He asks us to pray for our daily bread. We need the bread of food, for life. We need the Bread of Life, Jesus, to live in eternal relationship with the one who saved us from sin and death.

House of Bread–food–along with water the most necessary commodity for life.
1 Physical Life
2 Spiritual Life
3 The promise of eternal life–“This is my body–this is my blood. -
The city of Bethlehem was more than just the place for physical nourishment (the place of bread/bakery) to the children of Israel, it became the geographical birthplace of GOD’s salvation story. It identifies as the geographical/local symbol of GOD’s plan for saving His people. This is where the Savior is born – the one who will lay down HIS life for the people – HE will remove the FEAR that has been in the hearts of mankind since the garden of Eden when sin gave birth to FEAR. God chose the city of Bethlehem to reveal HIS perfect LOVE. Today, I see the beauty of the whole picture from Scripture and how this little city continues to hold significance to every child of God, not just to the Israelites of days gone by.
