Describe your discipline philosophy. Do you think you are disciplining in a way that nurtures your students?

Absolutely, not only does it show that you care about what they are doing and the choices they are making, but it opens the door for more personal conversations during restorative sessions.

I discipline those who are disruptive in course. I also usually talk to then individually and ask them why they are doing what they are doing and what should they have been doing instead. We have a lot of conversations and I usually pray over my student as well.

I handle each case privately and attempt to take into account their situation. I need to reassess this to make it more nurturing.

I give them a warning to show grace and I make sure they know what the consequences are and why those actions are not correct.
Is not just about “do not do this” but teaching the why that actions is not correct. -
The school I worked with has a clear guidelines of criteria for a lot of rules the students must follow. At some point however, it is evident to see that detention does not work as there are frequent offenders. So the teachers tried to minimize giving the detention slip and instead trying to sit the students with them in their courses instead. I’ve actually found this to be rather effective especially since students tend to argue about why they need to serve their breaks with me and I found that to be the way to go and have a discussion with them on why we must have rules and be held accountable for our actions.
