I enjoy sports’ rules. They are clear and usually undisputed. I go with a three-strikes-you’re-out mentality. I will give a student two graces before writing a “check”. I do not let the student know I have written a check until I have the opportunity to speak with them privately. I tell them what they have done wrong and why they are receiving the check. I would like to learn more about how to extend opportunities for my students to “make it right.”

I have positive expectations for my students. These are applied to school and classroom rules. When they break a rule, we discuss which one, and how it could be handled better. I give them boundaries as to know what will happen when they don’t obey or portray Godly attributes. I set expectations for the future.

I always want to administer discipline with love. Our school has guide lines on what type of discipline to use for certain situations. When a situation come up that will need a disciplinary action I make sure we set down and discuss ways that the student could have handle the situation better.

Discipline must be done with respect and dignity. Guiding a student to appreciate their options and the power and responsibility they have to make good choices or make recompense is key. I am dealing with children/teens created in the image of God, and they need to acknowledge their, sin from an objective point of view and to empower them to move forward. My most frequent go to is the Matthew 18 Principle.

My discipline philosophy is to follow the school rules The students know the expectations and consequences by breaking the rules but I do praise students for their positive behavior, caring, being kindness, showing respect and peace.
