I haven’t always been great with discipline for the students, but whatever I do, I try to be fair and just.

I tend to believe in a least restrictive environment. I want students to notice that my aim for them is to feel safe and comfortable in my class. My goal is for them to have a relationship with me where letting me down is something they wish to avoid. In that sense, I feel it is nurturing.

Yes, I try to discipline in a way that gives the students natural consequences. I also try to communicate to the student the way they should listen the next time to help them.

I try to balance truth and grace. There are clear guidelines and expectations that students must adhere to. If they step out of bounds, I approach them with grace giving them an opportunity to repent. If they do not jump at this opportunity, consequences must take place in order to hold them to a high standard. However, all of this is done while reassuring them that I care about them and love them regardless.

My discipline philosophy should incorporate truth and grace and love. Usually I could work a bit more on the grace and love part. I do admit my patience grows short at times.
