The teacher that comes to mind is Mr. Ford. He is now celebrating in heaven with the Lord, but he encouraged me to trust in the Lord when I was grieving the loss of my father. He gave me scripture to read and prayed over me and was there for me when I needed someone wise to talk to.

I can remember how my 6th grade teacher Mr. Classen would read to us from “The Hobbit.” He taught me to love the fantasy genre. Another teacher, Mr. Hammack, was my choir teacher in high school. He welcomed everyone with kindness and took any teenage antics in stride. A third example was my religion professor, who spoke with me about being a fellow person of small stature and acknowledged a shared experience.

Dr. Swall, a math professor was very helpful. He provided clear and structured lectures and was always willing to spend time answering questions.

When I was a sophomore in high school I had a wonderful Bible teacher, Mrs. Christian. Perfect name. 🙂

I had trouble with a friendship and she saw that I was struggling personally. Mrs. Christian met with me outside of class to talk about my problem and to help me memorize scripture to guide me in good decision making. She showed me the love Christ in her actions and support that she gave me.

I remember my high school Geometry teacher. Her class was challenging and I struggled through it, but she was always so encouraging. She was always willing to help. She was a fun and positive presence in the classroom.
