    M Second Grade teacher was a motivator, who used centers to highlight strengths.

    My English teacher in Middle School, Mrs. Esther. She recently passed away during the pandemic. Although she was very strict, she always use a gentle voice and never raised her voice even when we caused chaos in the course. She always gave her reasonings of why we must serve in detentions and explain to us why we mustn’t do certain things. Because of that, we respected her even more and always listens to what she had to say.

    My high school choir teacher Mrs. Hope was the most influential teacher in my life. Since I was able to be with her for my entire high school career, we were able to develop a strong relationship. I was with her after school working on music, before school to help with beginning of the day activities, and even in-between courses to say hi. Yes, she was an incredible musician and an even better teacher, but that’s not what I remember most about her. I remember crying in her office after my junior year boyfriend broke up with me (on my birthday, at that). I remember her arm around me affirming that I was enough because of Christ. I did not need a boy making me feel as though I was desired. I did not go to a Christian school, but Mrs. Joy Hope (yes, her real name) could not separate her biblical worldview from her educational philosophy regardless of where she was teaching.

    Donna White, from Portland, TN was a straight to the point, plump red checked woman who I adored. She always told jokes, told us about the world in a very straight forward way unlike any teacher I had before. She encouraged me to understand you can do things just for fun just because they are fun and we will learn along the way!

    I had a Sunday School teacher who always believed in me. We worked very hard on learning the names of the disciples. Finally, we found that by singing, I was able to memorize them. She always had a smile and a hug for me.
