My third grade teacher Mrs. Jerrolds is a teacher that I always remember as being kind and warm to me even though I was not a academically inclined student. Most other teacher would gravitate towards and give the majority of attention to the “smart” kids, but Mrs. Jerrolds gave all her students equal attention

One of my College professors had a major influence on my transformation. She took time to listen to me and spoke into my life. She read my papers and gave specific feedback and praise. That changed my life and breathed life into me as well.

In my junior year of high school, my math teacher, Kristy Lyon, came in after the first 9-weeks and completely turned the class around. Math is my weakest subject, and I was not making the grades I wanted to. She listened to my goals and met me at school early several days a week to help me reach them. My goals were very lofty, and she never belittled me, nor did she give me empty encouragement. She told me what it would take and walked with me to get there. She taught me the value of hard work, and I will always remember this feeling of gaining the grade I had worked so hard for.

Growing up, God always placed some really great teachers in my life and they happened to be Christians. I will always remember my US History teacher because he was so encouraging and he made me have a love for history of our great nation and I truthfully believe that he taught us the facts. In my yearbook he signed it saying “He hopes his daughter is just like me when she grows up” and I will always remember that. The year after that, I was able to be his teacher’s assistant because I just loved his class so much and his teaching was so inspiring.

I have many, but the first one that stands out was my first-grade teacher Mrs. Sutphin. She was stern yet loving and always made time for “her” kids. She had high expectations for her class, and we were always working hard to make her proud. She instilled in me the importance of trying my best on everything I did and taught me that it was okay to make mistakes. She used mistakes as a part of our learning process so that we were comfortable making them, yet also taught us HOW to LEARN from them. She made us feel comfortable and loved and that has always stuck with me.
