I think it means we should listen more instead of rattling off a lists of requests. God has a bigger vision of what is going on than we do. I find comfort in realizing that God knows what will make me happy more than I do.

My hopes and desires change with the seasons it seems. Sometimes I think there may have been unintended consequences that I hadn’t considered had my prayer been answered.

C.S. Lewis is one of the greatest inspirations to me of all time. I came to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior in 5th grade when I read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Like the Garth Brooks song, “Unanswered Prayer”, from time to time the Lord brings memories of prayers that were unanswered, and how I would think I am so thankful God didn’t answer certain prayers, because I know His ways are higher than mine, and everything has happened for a reason. I think even prayers I see as silly now, I can always trust that God knows what is best for me, and may His will be done.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. God’s word says it and that settles it.
