Christianity is about a better hope. You can face adversity and still remain a friend of God.

If we put all our energies into creating a better life we may or may not have a better life but, either way, we will have an empty soul. However, if we put our energy into getting to know God in the various situations we find ourselves, we allow him to move by his Spirit in our lives and this builds our hope in Him. We may not receive what we want in this world, but we receive Him, which is far better.
We learn to trust His decisions and find greater peace in our situations. We discover that underneath all the mess, that is what our souls longed for all along- peace with God.

Christianity that is a “better life” is diametrically opposed to the real invitation of Christ: to walk in step with Him, no matter the circumstances, in order to experience the reason He died….access to His Love, His Presence, His Abundant life of Freedom. This is the Hope.

People typically live life in pursuit of the good life, a life better than what they have. The great American dream. The life of blessings, prosperity, physical wholeness and well-being we are taught is available to us according to the word of God. We put in the time, make the sacrifices that will hopefully one day help us to achieve our goal of a good life. I spoke with a man on yesterday who will soon celebrate his eighty-fifth birthday. He spoke of the good life he’s had, good career, wonderful wife and loving children. But he spoke nothing of a relationship with Christ or God being the key source of this good life as he calls it. Even in his good life, he’s experiencing memory loss, health and mobility problems that the good life cannot solve. My friend said nothing of having hope in God, drawing nearer to Him in his final day. The so called “better life” without God is not living life to the fullest.

This was a heart touching and mind blowing concept that seems so obvious but i never though about. I am always looking for a cure to any and all pro9blems in my life and always chasing after the next thing to improve my life, and so is every on else. An obvious distraction from focusing on what God wants for my life and it is so selfish and I am so thankful I learned this.
We can have a hope that its ok that life its ok, we have the Lord and that’s all that should matter.
