Discuss why the statement, “God always answers prayer ‘yes, no, or wait’” is inadequate to address the challenge of unanswered prayer in our lives.

The statement that God answers all prayers yes or no or maybe is not what God do. In the Bible there are several instances where God didn’t answer prayers for examples Moses in the book of Exodus 33:11 When he didn’t want to lead Israel out of Egypt, another example is Jeremiah 7:16 where God told Jeremiah to stop praying for the people and when Jesus prayed for the cup to be taken from Him.

We cannot put God in a simple box like that. He may be telling us that our heart is not right, we haven’t prayed enough, or we wouldn’t fully understand His will. It is a mystery to Christians regarding unanswered prayer.

Because it is too simplistic to address the complex and often bewildering “reasons” why God doesn’t answer prayers.
When praying for something that is biblical, in accordance with God’s will – (ie to heal His people who are sick….) – and we have persevere in praying for it, yet, when He doesn’t answer the prayers, there can really be no adequate explanation. It is still a mystery to us… -
The statement that God answers prayers yes, no or wait is inadequate to address the challenge of unanswered prayers. Jesus, Paul, Jeremiah ,David and Moses had unanswered prayers. They accepted God’s will. They trusted God’s heart. Their responses comfort others facing unanswered prayers.

It is too simplistic to view prayers as that narrow. “Wait” might as well be replaced with “maybe” or “Let me think about it”, or even “ask again.” Our prayers demand more specific answers than that; God knows this and is wise enough to give us answers that are more specific that instruct us in what we are to do.
