I do believe I understand redemption. It’s important for me to understand this concept so I can approach students in a Christ-like manner and point the way to God’s forgiveness and salvation.

Yes – it is the only way forward sometimes, and keeps me from getting stuck on the past. The Switch foot “Dare you to move” (“like today never happened”) is a good reminder to me of this.

It is important to understand a biblical worldview of redemption, not only in our personal walk with Christ, but to implement this to our students. Many worldviews do not include the redemptive work of Jesus’ death and resurrection for our sin, so that we have restored relationship with our Heavenly Father. This can lead to lack of morals, without a Biblical worldview. The verse I continue to refer to is, “We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This clearly reveals our need for redemption which is only fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Perhaps the old Sunday School song teaches it best. He paid a debt he did not owe I owed debt. I could not pay. I needed someone to wash my sins away but now I sing a brand new song amazing Grace Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay.
I have the privilege of teaching Old Testament survey to ninth graders and Bible doctrine to 10th graders, and I promise you that little Sunday school song is full of sound theology.

I believe that Christ died for my sins. Because of His sacrifice, I must constantly seek ways to overcome humans’ innate sinful nature by strengthening my relationship with God and his teachings.
