YES!! If children at a young age can begin to learn, know, and recall Scripture, it will become a central part of who they are. It will build a strong foundation that they will go back to, for their entire life! It will make for the very essence of their existence.

Yes; it is foundational, and they will be able to recall many passages later.

Absolutely! What we memorize, especially as children, stays with us for a long time. God’s word never returns void. Even if the child doesn’t fully understand all of the verse, they will in time come to know more. Also, what you put in is what comes out. Marinating in the word of God means that is more likely what is going to come out of you when you are squeezed.

It is extremely important for young children to learn and know scripture. Their minds are much more keen and able to remember the Bible verses, especially if given a mnemonic device to help them “hang” them on, like the alphabet (one verse per letter of the alphabet, the first word beginning with that letter, like A – “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23) or putting the verses to music like Steve Green and other Christian artists have done to help kids remember the Word. I still recall verses memorized as a very young child using the Bible Memory Association A-B-C book.

Yes! “Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are older, they will not depart from it.”
