Yes I see from the examples given in the lecture the urgency. When I was younger I could not see this importance and even treasure. Now as I am older, I will savor anyone God puts into my life as a mentor because they have likely been where I want to go, they can see what I cannot, understand maybe what I do not, and can explain (usually with love and commitment) different things that I may struggle to know.

At a certain age, we have a company of good friends (peer mentors) to keep us on track, and keep us in prayer – giving each other permission to speak the truth to our lives, and we trust that it stemmed from their love. Yes, there are godly mentors in my life, that I can always bounced with to keep me on track.
We need both, as we are yet complete in Christ, and are still living in that tension of flesh and spirit. They keep us alert to our blindness and deafness. They reflect to us what is God-honoring and what is walking in faith.
