As Doctor Crabb says, the soulcarer is there to journey with the one in need. Therefore I can walk alongside that person. I don’t have to keep ahead and give advice on how to proceed, try to protect them, or use supposed soothing words to calm them. They are not my responsibility. They are God’s responsibility, and I need to get out of God’s way but take care to be His loving human representative accompanying them on their journey. With this perspective my soul is free to hear from God and I become a safe person for the one in need to open up to. My focus is to assist God to bring them into a relationship with Him that becomes stronger than than the pull of the problem.

Vision of knowing the need for God’s wisdom is the whole basic of soulcare. Helping others to develop an appetite, stronger than their desires.

Knowing I am out of my league does not change my approach to soul care, however it does reinforce my belief that I need God’s wisdom, leading, guidance, and direction to help anyone, including myself. God is the only one that can change anyone from the inside out, give people spiritual increase and truly care for our souls.

Knowing and believing this vision would lead me to depend on God, His word, and the Holy Spirit. Competence or experience can’t compare to the wisdom and power of God if we depend on Him.

I believe there are resources available to aid and assist people with understanding root causes for the struggles and issues of life. I do not believe these recourses within themselves are adequate enough, nor are we, to bring about lasting change apart from the Word of God. It is in the Word of God that we come to know God through the redemptive work of Christ that is capable of changing lives bringing us to that place of peace that makes everything else less important. We are not capable of making that happen. We can be the salt, the light that shows the way to the care needed for their soul.
