Knowing and believing this changes the way you approach SoulCare to way of allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work through you instead of you trying to take on the struggle on your own.

Recently, Holy Spirit revealed to me that I in my own natural state do not have the capacity to effectively help others. I can only do so by revelation wisdom and knowledge of Holy Spirit’s guidance…. because I can not know ALL of the details of any one person or situation. It was such an humbling eye opener. This lesson has just taken me deeper into this revelation. It has totally changed my thinking and I know it will change my approach. I will definitely no longer look to fix a situation but solely rely on God.

Knowing that I’m out of my look when dealing with people’s problems will help to completely rely and depend on God for his wisdom and insight. What he thinks and not what I presume.

It is a change in paradigm – moving from “helping” or “fixing” someone to desire what God wants for that person. It will enable me to focus more on praying for that person and seeking God’s help to create that desire / appetite for God more than his/her other desires. It would also move me to want to explore and discover what is going on inside them and by the wisdom of God, to touch their innermost being with the love of God.

As I listen to a friend describe a struggle, what I have done is apply my own experience to see them do better than I. The reassure can be enormous, and it Can be very defeating to see it fail. What Dr. Crabb describes is not a method, a way, or a list of How-To’s. Dr. Crabb says effective soulcare 1. arouses an appetite for God, 2. To provoke an consuming experience of God. These 2 statements are not possible. From me, however with God all things are possible. God has changed me, and if he can do that, he can change anyone’s heart.
