But Jesus wasn’t an ordinary individual…. Everything about Jesus was supernatural, and consequently I find the resurrection to fit right into that picture: Supernatural exit from time/space, the resurrection, and then the ascension. So the resurrection fits beautifully into that whole mosaic. If you were to leave that aside, the jigsaw puzzle would be missing a very significant piece. But it all fits together into a coherent pattern of supernaturalism.” Vernon Grounds uses the illustrations of a mosaic and jigsaw puzzle. How do these metaphors illustrate the miraculous ministry of Jesus Christ ending in His resurrection? Explain your answer.

These metaphors of a jigsaw puzzle and a mosaic illustrate the miraculous ministry of Jesus Christ ending in His resurrection because based on the other “pieces” it just makes sense. Throughout the Old Testament we read about prophecies of the Messiah that is to come, and He is described and events are explained. Then, in the New Testament we begin to read about the fulfillment of those prophecies through the birth and life of Jesus Christ. In the OT, the death and resurrection of Jesus was foretold in a “resurrection-sized” piece of the mosaic or puzzle. It completes the picture.

The pieces of the mosaic fit together beautifully to fulfill the prophecies of Jesus Christ’s coming, purpose and resurrection.

The metaphors illustrate the miraculous ministry of Jesus Christ because they satisfy the prophesies about Him. Everything, from His life, the miracles, the Crucifixion, and the ascension, paint a beautiful picture that Jesus is the Son of God.

This mosaic picture or puzzle makes sense because we have to look at everything. Every prophecy, every miracle and every teaching. Everything fits together perfectly and tells the most amazing, Supernatural teaching of our salvation.
