Christian Learning Center Forums Discussion Forum Dr. Vernon Grounds said, “I might find it difficult to believe in the resurrection of just an ordinary individual. But Jesus wasn’t an ordinary individual…. Everything about Jesus was supernatural, and consequently I find the resurrection to fit right into that picture: Supernatural exit from time/space, the resurrection, and then the ascension. So the resurrection fits beautifully into that whole mosaic. If you were to leave that aside, the jigsaw puzzle would be missing a very significant piece. But it all fits together into a coherent pattern of supernaturalism.” Vernon Grounds uses the illustrations of a mosaic and jigsaw puzzle. How do these metaphors illustrate the miraculous ministry of Jesus Christ ending in His resurrection? Explain your answer.

Jesus’ life as we know it is not a series of individual, disjointed events. The fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies continually instruct complete the person and deity of Messiah, Jesus. His was a supernatural life on earth, the resurrection and ascension are crowning events further validating the deity of Jesus and provide solid evidence for our belief in Jesus as our anointed One.

I mean his death was the ultimate last piece to the puzzle. It would have meant nothing or would have completely changed the narrative at the very least, if he did not die on the cross, sacrificing his life for all.

The resurrection of Jesus was the final piece of the puzzle or mosaic. Each of his supernatural elements such as his virgin birth, supernatural teaching, miracles performed in compassion, and sinless character were a part of the puzzle pointing us the the reality that he is indeed the Christ. His resurrection was not only necessary it completed his mission on earth. Without it we would be left without the one and only way to be reconciled to God. There would be no way to complete the puzzle.

The metaphors illustrate the miraculous ministry of Jesus Christ because the resurrection proves that Jesus is the Messiah. He conquered the grave and has power over death, this supports all of the other miracles that he performed.
