I reflect on the experiences of Job, and the bible teaches that often our characters are refined by fire, we may not know why certain things happen to us, but the main focus is to trust God, trust in His plan for us.

I agree with this statement. In 2020 I lost my sister and my aunt. In 2021 I lost my mother. Because of my relationship with God, He assured me before these losses that He was me, for me, and that He loved me. I’m still standing because of His promises!

After the loss of my son, I lamented. I didn’t know at the time that’s what I was doing. I cried out in paid. I ask God not to let go of me. I told God I trusted him. I believe in him and to just continue to be with me.

Lament to me is one of the most intimate interactions I have with God. In lament, I do not try and hide my deepest and rawest emotions. I am laid bare before the Lord. He already knows everything about me, but He allows me to pour it out in words, or tears, or screams and shouts, and He hears every word, knows every thought, and sees every tear. Then He wraps His arms around me and lets me know He loves me, He understands my pain. He will never neve me or forsake me. Therefore, I will always Praise Him in the midst of the storm.

I really felt this as a 9 year old when my baby sister stabbed her eye with a knife and as she was rushed over 50 miles away to the nearest hospital I fell to my knees and lamented to God, asking Why?, asking for a miracle, begging and pleading, I soon realized that in my 9 year old body all I could do was hope and trust in the Lord…she did lose her eye, yet the closeness I felt from God that night has never left me.
