These are all ways to connect with the Lord through His Word, people, or Spirit. Through these connections, we get the opportunity to communicate with Him.

I think of Bible study as an opportunity for God to share/communicate what He has left for us to learn. Fellowship is my favorite because there are times when God speaks out loud to us through others. And, we each hear exactly what God needs us to hear, individually, in that moment. Prayer is a one-on-one conversation with God. It’s where we grow closer to Him. All three work together to help us mature spiritually.

Bible study is God communicating with a believer through His written word. Fellowship with other believers, via church attendance/small group or other similar means, is spiritual communication also. Believers can enlighten us regarding the word of God and often speak into our spiritual lives. Lastly prayer is us, as children of God, speaking directly to our heavenly Father. We speak and then listen closely with our hearts in order to gather instruction from Him. Typically we do not hear the audible direct voice of God. All of these means are forms of spiritual communication for a believer.

All of that is a formula of how God throughout the ages chose to speak to His creatures.

Spiritual communication in my mind is both between us and God, and also amongst our family of faith, fellow believers. When we study God’s Word, individually or together… when we pray, individually or together with other believers … when we have fellowship with God, through worship and communion, and have fellowship with each other, we glorify God and experience His powerful presence!
