Bible study is where I meet God, with his attributes through his word. Fellowship helps me discern his word and recognize the gifts of other believers though Sharing and challenging myself to receive from others. Prayer is what gives me the confidence and the courage to seek and follow through with the prior two pats of the question.

Bible study is reading God’s Word and focusing on every verse to see what God is telling each of us. Fellowship is being in a community of Christians both in a specific church, and also with others who we rely on to help us with Bible study, accountability and other spiritual growth. Prayer is our specific individual contact with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit and can be done individually and in a group. I have also become very aware that prayer is also listening to God’s call on what He wants for my life.

Bible study allows you to receive communication from God. Prayer allows you to communicate to God. Fellowship allows back and forth communication with God and others.

While all three forms of communication draw us closer to the Lord, each one has distinct characteristics. Bible study is done because we believe that the Word is God-breathed (II Timothy 3:16). The Bible is God’s communication to us. We are commanded in His Word to pray so that we might communicate to God. Fellowship is given for encouragement and our walk with others. When all three are combined, we find our walk with the Lord to grow, and we mature in Him.

It is important to be in communion or fellowship with God. He created us and desires for us to be transformed into His likeness. We do that through study of His Word, in fellowship with Him and other believers, and through submitting our lives to Him in prayer.
