I appreciated the breakdown in the lesson of why we as Christian educators should embrace science. In fact, I have to shake my head in disbelief at how many of our students could advance as scholars in this very field if they were given greater opportunity to explore the sciences. One of my personal heroes is George Washington Carver, not just because of his scientific exploits despite cultural and political conflicts, but because of his deep Christian beliefs that I think allowed for him to be given the wisdom for those scientific exploits (i.e. Jeremiah 33:3)

By not talking about Science or evolution, we risk the students being ill prepared when ideas are presented to them that are contrary to the principles of Biblical faith and accuracy of Creation. Without this elementary platform for discussion and exploration in thought, they are left somewhat defenseless in the arena of a civic exchange of ideas and eventually without much groundwork to share the fullness of the True Gospel. Instead, the message becomes convoluted, watered down and left without the much needed foundation laid out throughout the Genesis account and consequently the rest of the OT. they become exactly what Scriptures says, “as tossed to and fro”.

Science is the study of God’s creation. The more students delve into the study of God’s world, the more apparent it becomes that God created the world. In my classroom, when we study intricacies of the world, we have great discussions about the miraculous creation of God. It is also important to have the controversial discussions that come up when studying science, so that students are prepared to defend their faith as they advance into higher education.

All truth is God’s truth. We do not need to fear truth because it will lead us to God. Science is just our way to try to make sense out of the complexity of God’s creation.

Science is a means in which humans explore and try to understand God’s creation. I have heard many scientists say they have become Christians because of their scientific research. The farther one goes into seeking answers the closer one come to the truth in God!

God’s people are free. Led by Him, as His Spirit teaches us all things and as we have His mind, there are no subjects that we need to avoid. He is Lord of ALL. So science is not a mystery or a difficult subject. It is another evidence of the awesomeness of God and the anazing things He has put into place for His people’s benefit!
