Explain, in your own words, why and how Christians should embrace science.

Science is a way to try to understand God’s creations. As Christians we should try to understand as much of the world as we can. We do not want to pretend it doesn’t exist or deny that our students are going to be exposed to the ways of the world. We need to be able to explain to our students how science fits into God’s designs.

I think that science should be presented from a Biblical worldview. God is the master scientist and gave us the ability to understand and study his creation. In my science courses we explore with this in mind. I address evolution and we talk about why we as Christians disagree with this theory as well as faulty reasoning that is used to support evolution.

God is the creator of science too and so it is important for us to study science and any changes that may be happening or new discoveries. God wants us to steward the earth wisely and exercise dominion over it. We need an understanding of science in order to do so effectively. While unbelievers may not acknowledge so, science points us to an orderly and loving Creator and it should be our responsibility to help others see how.

When you study any content area, you are studying God’s creation. You may interpret the findings through a Biblical worldview or a non-Biblical worldview. However, we cannot ignore scientific data and must ensure there is a cohesive understanding of that data when viewed with a Biblical worldview.

If we as Christian educators don’t embrace science, we appear unstable in our belief in creation. God’s work is science. He envelopes the very essence of science. How living things breathe and have life. How the sun, moon, and tides work together. How lightening is held in his hand. How stars are without number. Embracing the Creator and DESIGNER enlightens the beauty of the world around us.
