We are more aware of other pains in life because our minds have been trained to look out for ways to protect ourselves from more harm and pain. We blame others and don’t stop to look at our own failures.

To the extent that I am aware of Him, His absence from my life, and my perceived inability to know Him and to please Him is the extent to which I experience pain and battle for relief. This distress is so deep and painful, not easy to face, that we spend all of our efforts trying to cover it up as we experience all and every other kind of pain such as rejection, violence, and loss of every kind, and finally convince ourselves that we are okay. Our complacency must be disturbed, upended, confronted so that we begin to look deeper, receive the painful truth about who and where we are, and what we need for relief.

I long to be the wife, mother, grandmother and friend that God designed and placed in my heart when I was saved. The truth is my flesh is always getting in the way. Some days it seems the enemy is working overtime in my life. The one time I felt closer to my Creator and saw true growth was when I went through breast cancer. I pressed in to Him with prayer, being in the Word and leaning on other believers. Interesting how my focus quickly changed.
