The four authors are different people. They wrote with different backgrounds, different perspectives, different audiences, different agendas. They did not consult one another to make 1 gospel. God used exactly who, what, when, and where the authors were to provide future generations with accounts of Jesus from different walks of life.

The are written by different people with different backgrounds and different viewpoints. The books address different situations and problems and were written for different purposes. They are not contradictory although they may give us different viewpoints of the same situation sometimes. As we weld these accounts together we a more complete picture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

One reason is that 2 authors were present with Jesus and wrote from their experiences. The other 2 authors wrote what was reported to th em from someone elses experience. Another reason is that each au th or wrote from their perspectives and focused on different audiences while writing their accounts.

The authors differ at times from each other because they each had a different audience, perspective, and purpose.
