Examples from 1 Peter 3:15-16 as to why and how we should embrace apologetics in our faith:
As a Christian, I need stanctify the Lord God in my heart, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks. I need to be able to give a reason for the Hope I have with meekness and fear in the Lord. And when the unbeliever defames me and reviles my good conduct in Christ, I will not feel ashamed. So it’s very important that we are able to stand strong in opposition. -
Apologetics is about being prepared with reasoning for questions that may be asked of the doctrine for which you believe. Blind acceptance is not sufficient when evidence is requested. In 1 Peter 3:15-16 it states that one of the Christian faith should be prepared to provide an answer to everyone in relation to where does our hope come from that we have. It also describes the way in which the answer she be presented. One who provides an answer with frustration, anger, condescending tones (much like that of the Pharasees) or judgment would not be meeting these instructions. Instead, we are to give our answer with a gentle response out of respect and clear conscience to that we are glorifying God and not presenting the truth with a malicious tongue. We honor Christ and do not slander His name when we do this.

In 1 Peter 3: 15-16 there are two commands related to apologetics
1) ALWAYS be prepare to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
2) But do this with gentleness and respect.
And then God tell us to “Keep clear conscience….”
