First, we need to be humble, respectful, and loving with reverence as we explain our reasons for believing what we do in Jesus Christ due to how He has come into our lives and why we want to study, praise, and worship our Lord God in a way where others will want what we have in Jesus Christ.

This passage captures three main points: 1) Always be prepared to share and defend the faith to those who see the Christian light burning inside you. As a witness in action, exhibiting the fruits of righteousness, always be ready to provide testimony with your mouth. 2) Share that testimony with “gentleness and respect” to those who are willing to listen… and 3) To those who may utter words against our Christian testimony and mock our Christ-honoring actions, demonstrate a Christlike behavior that honors God and exposes the slanderer’s negative behavior that will an awareness of shame for doing so.

This means; always being prepared to share with other why we have hope or give a defense who anyone who asks.
We should always use gentleness and respect. -
We should always be ready to defend what we believe and always be courteous and respectful in our reasoning so that those who persecute you will be put to shame because you believe with a good conscience

By giving Christ first place in our life and being ready to tell of the hope we have in Him, with Gentleness and love.
