He encourages them to “revere Christ as Lord” – have the right orientation with the Lord, to stay focused on Him. Then, Peter tells them to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have.” This means that that they were to have answers for people’s questions. These verses apply to us, as well. If we are not in right relationship with Christ, we will not be able to share Him in a way that sets an example for others. Rather, our sin and hypocrisy will turn others away. We also need to have answers for people. We have a hope that unbelievers do not have, and it is our job to share our Hope! In order to do that, we need to have answers, and if we do not know the answer, we need to find it. The Lord does not take us home as soon as we are saved. Instead, He leaves us to reach out to others and complete the Great Commission.

I am also called to be humble and respectful so my life needs to give testimony of what I will say to a person. For example, I will be with a person during hard times and good times showing the love God has for me, and I will show what God has been doing in my life. As a science teacher I will teach my students about the wonderful and amazing creation.
