By acknowledging and accepting that I’m imperfect, Christ can work through me. And remind myself constantly to rely on Christ.

The only base we can have is the promise of God. To know the Holy Spirit works through us is to know He is the one doing the work and it is not upon me. I must do what I can to show the love and work of God, and rely on the Holy Spirit to be able to do the healing.

That He has entrusted me with the ministry of reconciliation.

As the man who was carried by his friends and let down through the roof to be cared for by Jesus, the people who we care for need us to walk with them and bring them to Jesus. His friends knew they couldn’t do the healing or make their friend whole. They needed the miracle worker. Once we realize our own mess, brokenness, and inadequacy, and the face that everyone’s one hope for healing (ours included) is Jesus, we can lovingly offer SoulCare to those who come our way.

As is the emphasis throughout this course to make an impact on others in any significant way, our reliance has to be on God and His work in us through the Holy Spirit.
