Has your thinking changed as a result of this lesson?

I don’t think there was a change in thinking because I already had in mind similar definitions for the terms of leadership, ministry, and calling. It was a new thought for me of what Guinness writes, “The truth that God calls us to Himself so decisively that everything we are, everything we do, and everything we have is invested with a special devotion and dynamism lived out as a response to His summons and service.” The next quote, “Individuals’ calling to partnership with God, in which particular gifts are evoked and developed in concert with their discernment of the particular role God has given them to play during a certain period of their lives.” has played out vividly in my own life as I consider God used 30 years of life experiences to prepare me for my calling from the point at age 14 when He captured my heart for overseas missions until I actually went on my first overseas mission trip and ultimately stepped down from a good paying job to leave my grown children and serve in Africa. Most of those experiences were training and education in a ‘secular’ setting, but ultimately laying the groundwork for my current position. And everyday I realize that this is “something that I can’t do.”

Yes, it changed some of my views, particularly about what ministry and leadership are.

8 June 2022 I would claim ,that in a small way; my thinking about calling and leadership has changed. I would state that I have had my mindset changed,so that I now believe that no matter a persons ‘station in life’–they can have influence over another persons behavior and/or organization that they may be a representative for. One thought that I have here; centers around the old adage—“… The squeaky wheel gets the grease….”. Basically put, If enough people complain, either in writing or through the spoken word—the greater likelihood is that a ‘Goal’ can be achieved–that may initially start as being an individual one;to progressing towards a group one.
