A sojourner is one who moves from one place to another. Their mindset can be held in place as part of our identity in Christ? We need to teach and train our own flock the vision that this life is temporary; and our real and true home is yet to come. It is important for you to be aware of your entire flock following your leading in holding a sojourner’s mindset.

Part of the draw to becoming a missionary was to live as aliens and strangers in the world, but I didn’t truly understand the idea of a sojourner’s mindset. This was a timely lesson as I have recently been displaced in order to serve, and since have had to move frome place to place “as the winds blow,” without a sense of being settled. I love that this lesson gives context to my situation in a way that I can reflect on that part of the Isralites’ identity.

In order to help my flock embrace the vision that this life is temporary, I plan to spend time reflecting on scripture that emphasizes this part of the Israelite story as well as NT references ot it. From here we will engage in conversations about what it means to be sojourners and our job to collect God’s sheep and lead them home. I hope this will help others to see their call as shepherds as part of a family with the job to lead God’s sheep to Heaven.

I have worked to embrace the fact that I am a sojourner. By asking God to make me reliant on Him and Him answering me, making it so that I have to, I realize that I only receive anything because of His provision. I do try to explain to others about the situation which is all I can do in order to help them also realize that if they are of the flock of God then they too are sojourners.

Yes I know that this life is temporary, as I’ve become older, being saved for a number of years this reality has sunk into my inner being quite well. I believe that this mindset may take some time to develope as it did with myself. All I can do is be a formidable leader(shepherd-under-shepherd), continuing my quest for Godly wisdom which should resinate into all who I encounter.
