I have definitely embraced that I am merely a sojourner passing through this life. The great reward of heaven awaits me when I have successfully run my race for Christ. I will set an example for all of those who associate with me or are under my care and influence. “Choose you this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). I will instill in them that this life is fleeting, and our forever is yet to come. We are but a vapor and should store up our treasures in heaven and I will show this through my diligent efforts to further the cause of Christ. I know that if I do so, then others will take note of how different I am, be drawn to me (and the foot of the cross), and as a result be willing to follow my example. Real leaders reproduce leaders when they are fully “souled” out to Jesus!

Yes, I have embraced sojourning as part of my identity in Christ. This can be instilled into the flock from the word of God and life itself. Everyone dies. The only way not to leave is to never come. Once we accept this truth, we must understand that the flesh is man is mortal and will one day return to the dust from which it came. The soul of man is immortal and must return back to the giver, God. How and where we spend eternity will depend on whether or not we accept the redemptive work of Christ for our sins. If the entire flock followed my lead and embrace the sojourner’s mindset, there would be more voices crying out in the wilderness.

One day, Jesus would come, it is written. Sinners would be punished, and Christians would be with Jesus..

To know and understand this is not our home. To encourage the hope that we want to be with God in heaven where homes are already prepared for us when Christ returns.
