When my father died, I stayed in depression for a very long time. I couldn’t even get off of my sofa for two weeks straight. I cried day and night. It took years for me to finally relieve that depression. Every time I thought of him, I would cry. His birthday was the worst time for me. Now, I can find peace when I think of him. The pain of the loss has slowly subsided and is easier to deal with.

Losing my mother and my pet dog was painful. However in the midst of these struggles trying to cope with the loss, the singing of praise and worship songs focusing on God healed me from within. This is together with reading the bible which transcended me out of grief and to come to terms with the loss. It took a few months but with focus and determination, the emotional pain subsided. God’s grace is sufficient for me.

Thinking back on the loss of my sister, I believe I was stuck in the stage of disbelief for a while. But with God more than anything and a support group I was able to pull through. It’s still very hard to believe even after 27 years, some losses you just never get over, you just pull through. But knowing God is always there to help get us through and leaning in on Him more than anything is always the biggest help, for me anyways. I’ve never understood how people without God or faith get through losses, trials, and life.

I think I was stuck in depression, since my bro past July last year, another family member was sick not long after and died early this year, I haven’t given myself a chance to grieve properly, I have been pressing into God more which helps 🙂
