Since I am currently I have not. My students read Defeating Darwinism, so they are exposed to the ideas but not from a positive standpoint. I would imagine you want healthy discussion where students can work out their ideas but are always pointed back to Scripture. I think too often the Bible is relegated to church only and students don’t realize it is for everyday life; that world history and Bible overlap, that science and the Bible are not at odds.

We don’t talk about them too much in literature course, but they have come up occasionally. I try to present what i know about both views and then talk about how if we truly believe Scripture is God’s words to us, then it is Scripture that needs to be believed. Also, I try to mention how science does in fact line up with Scripture.

I have had many discussions about creation and evolution in my classroom. They went well for the most part. Last year, I had a guest lecturer from our local Creation Institute present to the students. Although the information was presented well, time constraints and comfort levels did not allow students to openly ask questions. In the future, I may invite a guest lecturer to introduce the topic with a brief overview, but I will ensure that I take plenty of time to openly discuss the topic with my students, as I have done in the past.

Yes, I’ve had discussions about creation and evolution in my classroom. Most of the students hadn’t heard of the difference between macro- and microevolution. What really blew their mind was that perhaps creation didn’t happen in six 24-hour days…they had never thought about that before. I try hard to convey that our God is a God of order, of math and science, and that he is bigger than anything we can fathom. He’s not limited by space and time as we are…He created them! We always have fun conversations, and I try to teach my students not to be afraid of asking deep or difficult questions.

I have had many discussions about creation in my classroom and they went well. The one things that the students always question the most is, was did God really create the world in six days? Then we have the discussion about six days probably looked different back then.
