Yes, frequently. The debate does take place, but in the end good science points to a Creator. I stand with scripture in it’s declaration that God created the Heavens, Earth and man. In so doing I bring students to the choice that has to be made by each person concerning a Worldview. The choice of either a humanistic (void of God) or Biblical (God centered) Worldview.

Creation and evolution are not major topics in my classroom, but they do come up on occasion. Our students usually have a good understanding of the debate about creation/evolution and are well-equipped to defend their beliefs about Creation. I’d like to make a more conscious effort to address the issue through literature, as we study the flow of philosophical thought.

We have had many discussions in my classrooms on creation v. evolution. These have gone very well. We walk through evolution and the issues with millions of years and the lack of evidence that supports this. We then walk through the genealogy of those that lived before and after the flood and add up their ages and calculate the age of the earth that way. The students really enjoy delving into this subject and we talk about different ways to discuss intelligently with those that are old earth evolutionists. We really enjoy this topic.

I teach creation. If a student brings up something different, we go to the Bible and read what God says about creation.

I have not had any discussions about evolution and most of my experience about creation has been with preschool and Kindergarten age students. These discussions include how God created heaven and earth, everything in it and creating Adam to be a caretaker of the earth. The creation of Eve to be a helpmate to Adam and being made in God’s image as a unique individual all have been part of discussions. Evolution I would see coming up in older students and honestly would need for myself to have very deliberate time dedicated to formulating responses that led students to the truth in the Word of God. I think before tackling those, I would need to spend more time relating scripture to concepts in evolution, if I am being honest.
