I have taught Science to junior highers. I always had a section devoted to evolution vs. creation. During this section, I would divide the course up randomly into the evolutionist vs. the creationists. They would have weeks to do research on how to support their theory on different sub-topics. We would then hold a debate. The students really enjoyed this activity, and it helped them identify the truth on their own.

Yes, Evolution is discussed and many older students do have questions, but in our school we refer back to the Bible. It will often get difficult to answer some things, but we want the students to know we will seek out the answers.

I have only had discussions about creation and evolution in secular courses. Mostly I was explaining how there are two different beliefs about how they relate to each other. It was not a very satisfactory discussion and was hard to get the students to really understand what was going on since they had only ever heard the Big Bang Theory. I would love to get into how evolution is a way to try to explain God’s plan for the earth and how all of the creatures are on the Earth.

I love to have these discussion with my students. It is fun to debate. I try to be respectful and I don’t get upset. I am honest with the students and when I don’t have an answer I research and get back with them. We use many different resources to find answers from a Biblical world view.

In my classroom we have had many discussions about evolution and creation. Our creation based curriculum does an excellent job presenting information on evolution that has led to many wonderful discussions. It is especially discussed during our chapter on dinosaurs. I think it is important that we do talk about evolution so students will understand what it is and what others believe. We also talk about how they can have respectful disagreements with people who do believe in evolution. I find it interesting that most of the students say it takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe in our creator God.
