Have you memorized any Scripture? If so, how has that impacted your life? If not, how do you think you could begin to memorize Scripture?

I have memorized scripture. It has impacted my life when I’ve had quiet moments or when I’ve begun to question things in my life. It has also helped me in decision making.

I did not grow up in a family that placed an emphasis on memorizing Scripture. I also attended public school growing up and was not a Christian until my Junior year of high school. Needless to say, I did not have a desire to memorize Scripture until a youth ministry leader encouraged me to do so. The verses I have memorized have been a blessing when it comes to teaching others about God’s Word and the life lessons within it.

Scripture memorization has helped me when God has convicted me of sin patterns in my life. I have used it to fight temptation in specific areas. God has shown me that His word is my greatest weapon against believing and acting on lies.

I have memorized some scripture over time, but I have to admit, it’s much harder to memorize now that I am no longer a youth. I want to make scripture memorization more of a goal than I have in the past. I went to public schools until college and I do believe this impacted the memorization of scripture. However, I can definitely memorize scripture now. Smaller goals of scripture and specific verses could help me get started.

Yes, His Words that are hidden in my heart help me during hard times, give me peace, and remind me of the hope we have in Jesus Christ
