Have you memorized any Scripture? If so, how has that impacted your life? If not, how do you think you could begin to memorize Scripture?

Memorizing Scripture isn’t easy for me, but it is important. One of the best memorizing I have done is using a book about 100 verses everyone should know. I worked on this with a friend and we helped each other (and held each other accountable). Most often, my Bible Study groups include a verse for each week to memorize and I commit to working on those. In addition, when we have verses for the students to memorize, that becomes a verse for me to memorize as well.

Yes, memorizing Scripture has impacted my life tremendously. It has grounded me in God’s truth (John 17:17). It has helped me in my fight against sin (2 Pet 1:3-4). It has helped me know Christ more deeply which then overflows in loving others (John 15:4-12).

Yes! I did not grow up in church, but I have raised my children in church and in a Christian school. We have memorized Scripture together. (Songs are especially useful!) Scripture memorization has had a positive impact because these verses easily come to mind when certain situations or questions come up in life. They provide comfort and assurance when I need it.

Yes, I have memorized Scripture, by writing it down on index cards or post-it notes. The Scripture has brought me peace and reminded me of God’s promises.

In full transparency, I have not memorized a lot of scripture, but only a few that have really resonated with me. I refer back to those few in my thinking when I am have tough days and also when I am celebrating a good day. I memorized those scriptures with journaling after my Bible studies, so I just need to do it more.
