I have and still do. This impacts my life because when I’m talking to someone, when I’m anxious or down about something, when anything in life – the Words that I have embedded in my heart come up and out.

Even though it has become harder for me to remember the addresses, I love how particular verses that I have memorized or remember from studying come to mind at just the right time. The Holy Spirit brings the Word to life in a personal way. I need the Word on a daily basis as I pray and speak the truth over needs and situations for myself and others. The Word has power!!

I have memorized some, but definitely need to do better about memorizing more. I started my walk with the Lord later in my life, at the start of my young-adult years, and it is certainly harder to memorize things now compared to when I was younger. One verse that I have memorized and impacts me is Mark 4:39- “Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” I struggle with anxiety and this verse helps me because I know that if Jesus can calm a storm with those three words, He can calm me and help me through anything and it brings me comfort. To help me memorize more Scripture, I need to dedicate more time to God’s word and I could also use some memorization techniques I use with my students for myself.

Yes, I grew up memorizing Scripture. In my life currently, verses often pop into my head for reference depending on the context or situation I am in. Usually this is helpful.

Many scriptures that I have memorized are through song. I have found these to be helpful to sing during difficult times to lean on God’s word.
