I have some scripture I have memorized from when I was younger. If I have questions they often times come to mind.

I was encouraged to memorize scripture as a child. I remember for church we were motivated to memorize a scripture to say it the following week. This also gave me a purpose to read the Bible as well throughout the week. It helped me have a solid understanding of the Bible and incorporate it into my life all throughout my childhood. Now, I wish I had memorized more!

I didn’t grow up as a Christian so I didn’t attend Sunday school or programs like Awana to memorize scripture. However, in my adult life, I strive to memorize scripture through bible study apps and gatherings. Sometimes I am better about it than other times, but I always feel closer to God when I meditate on his word.

I grew up memorizing a ton of scripture for school and for church. I think it’s been great to have stuck in my head so I always have the truth of God readily available when I am in need. I am still randomly memorizing scripture, which has been great.

Our discipleship group does Bible readings and memorizing verses. It helps to go at it with the application to your life to embed in memory and live it out.
