Have you memorized any Scripture? If so, how has that impacted your life? If not, how do you think you could begin to memorize Scripture?

Even though I am a facilitator for students to memorize scripture, I myself have not memorized much in the way of scripture. I have a handful of partial verses memorized and they are my go to for times of need and encouragement. I also like to look them up in the Bible as I think I have heard them. I have thought of holding myself accountable to my own students Bible memorization in years past, but I have yet to live up to that. This year, I will again try to make it a goal and finding ways to let students hold me accountable might be a good way of holding myself accountable.

I grew up learning and memorizing scripture. God’s word are his promises. They help us in ever facet of our lives. That’s why it is so important to learn it and keep it close to our hearts. It helps us through situations in our lives.

I have memorized Scripture. I have a strange brain though. I don’t always remember the address of the scripture. Like I know books, but chapter and verses I turn backward. This has been very beneficial when working with Teens and Middle School students during camps and other programs. It has also been beneficial when discussing Jesus with my children’s friends. Knowing Bible has helped me to encourage young Christians to seek answers and growth.

I have memorized many scriptures over the years in ministry. The one scripture that helps me through my though times is Isaiah 43: 1-2. This scripture lets me know that there will be some times in my life when I may feel that I am in a storm or going through a fire, but in the midst of it all, I will not be overtaken or burned. God is always with me. This gives me the strength to move forward in those days that I am not feeling the peace in my life.

Yes. Memorizing scripture has helped me keep true to God’s work and check myself on a daily basis. When faced with life’s hard temptations or struggles reciting my favorite verses always helps me stay on His path.
