Yes! Listening is key! Relationship is key!

Yes, I have told others about Christ in the past. Listening and dialogue are both very important. The person doing the witnessing must take time to listen to what the other person is saying and try to put himself/herself in that person’s position. This is basic to understanding the person you are witnessing to. Instead of doing all the talking, the person doing the witnessing must take time to let the other person express themselves and ask questions. I have also found that when beginning to witness to another person, it is important to ask that person if you can tell them how you came to Christ, then to find out where the person is in Christ you might ask the person being witnessed to if they would like to share what Jesus has done for them or if they have a relationship with Him.

Typically sharing my testimony is done to a group during a church message or other public event. It is powerful, but not as much so as when it’s with a smaller group which has the opportunity to ask questions. That is a weakness in my testimonial…asking questions and soliciting input from others. Need to work on that!

I have had the wonderful privilege to be used by God to share His good news to many. God is the one that does the work but when we make ourselves available to be used by Him, He allows us to be part of the process. I have shared my testimony in several different ways but it is always good to ask questions and allow the person your talking with to express questions and thoughts so you know where they are and allow the Spirit to help you know how best to share with them.

In many different settings, FCA huddles, discipleship groups, Sunday school courses, One on One meetings with coaches. The dialogue is important, allowing them to feel heard and understood instead of heavy informational and flexing of my knowledge muscles.
