Helping my wife come to Christ was a process that took several years. I brought up spiritual things every so often, but never tried to use them to “convert” her. Because she is Colombian and speaks both English and Spanish, when I felt a call on my life to write a daily devotional focused on the glory of Christ on a blog site, I asked if she would help with translation. She wasn’t eager to do it at first. In fact, there were several times when I had to do the translation myself. Over a period of six months, she was continually exposed to spiritual truths about the glory of Christ. One day, she asked me about a particular passage in John that I had used in the devotional that day. She wanted to know more, so I showed her the gospel of John in the Spanish language bible in our house, and told her to start reading there. At some point in the process of reading John’s gospel she was ready to repent of her sins and follow Christ. Her transformation has been a miraculous inspiration for me to watch.

I did have one significant interaction via email, but the person is a confirmed atheist. I tried to answer his questions to the best of my ability, though. We are still friends.

I’ve shared with others and found it easier to witness to compete strangers than those closest to me. I think because those closest to me know pretty much all the good, the bad and the ugly as well as my life pre-Christ, it’s more difficult to effectively evangelize without having to cut through all that first. I think the best way no matter who it is beit family or acquaintance is to live a consistent life. Be real about your struggles but don’t elevate them above the sovereignty and power of God. Be kind, be real and trust God because it’s the Holy spirit who gives you the power in deed and speech to witness.

I have witnessed about Christ before but I went about it the wrong way. Instead of letting the Holy Spirit lead me. I tried it in my own strength and ability and failed. What I have learned in this lesson will help me greatly and to effectively share Jesus with others.

Yes, although not like this and can’t wait to use this method.
