This is not up to me – I am not Mr. Wonderful loving SC provider – I am a conduit of invitation to the other person to see the Spirit at work in themselves and to pursue that Spiritual activity and respond to what the Spirit is doing to show that person what God has for them and where He wants them to to. The Spirit is doing all the Work – He can, we cannot.

It’s not based on my qualifications but on the Spirit in me and allowing Him to get beneath my own flesh dynamics to the spiritual dynamics that have been provided in the gospel (New Covenant) and becoming excited of what He’s doing in and through me relationally to stir an appetite in me that stirs an appetite in others that’s supremely for God.

I find the basic model of SoulCare generally helpful as it reminds me of all the various moving parts as I attempt SoulCare. However the 2 concepts that I find particularly helpful is :
(1) change is not possible until we experience the holy tension between where we are and where we need to be as believers of Christ. It is not enough to know that need in an intellectual way but that appetite and desire to find our greatest satisfaction in God must be stirred within our soul very soul before real change can take place.
(2) the brokenness that must take place in our lives, which leads to repentance, abandonment and finally that confidence that can only come from God. We need to go through that process to experience grace before we can exude grace and make us safe people before Soul Care can even begin. -
I believe that staying aware of how the Spirit leads you is important to not put your spin on someone else’s problems. This allows for true growth for both people because true connection, listening, and care take place.
