Jesus claimed to be God. The Bible is a reliable book, written over a period of 1400 to 1600 years, by more than 40 different authors, on three continents, in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek). Yet it has one story line. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). The Bible presents clear evidence that Jesus is the infinite God-Man. He came to earth, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. He offers the free gift of salvation to all who will believe and receive Him. If we receive His free gift of salvation, we are born again by the Holy Spirit of God, who comes to live inside of us. The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead will dwell in us, giving us the power we need to follow Him. To Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, be glory (Ephesians 3:20-21).

People tend to interpret any phenomena through the lens of their own experience, culture, belief system. To me, it is simple to understand that Islam claimed that Jesus was only a prophet. Their religious conviction was that only prophets could speak for God (Allah). They had no concept of a Triune God who would speak directly to people. Jesus did, and he said he was God, not a prophet.

Historical Reliability of the New Testament
<b style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; color: inherit;”>Textual Evidence: The New Testament is considered one of the most well-attested ancient documents, with thousands of manuscripts dating back to the early centuries after Jesus’ life. Its reliability as a historical document supports the Christian claims about Jesus. The Quran was written over 600 years after Jesus lived, so the New Testament provides closer historical testimony to Jesus’s life and teachings.
Early Christian Beliefs: The earliest Christian writings, including those of the apostles and church fathers, bear witness to the immediate emergence of a belief in Jesus as divine. This worship began right after His resurrection and was not a later invention. The widespread and early acceptance of Jesus as divine, if He was only a prophet, remains a puzzle yet to be solved.

The bible gives clear indication that Jesus was more than a prophet. Prophets can’t perform the miracles He performed. Jesus did more than just tell the future of things to come. He was perfect, without any sin and loved all while he lived on earth. And lastly, He died and raised from the grace.

The claims that we should use respectfully and persuasively are that Jesus claimed to be divine, accepted worship, and that the Apostle John claimed his divinity. We can assert these claims because of the evidence for Scripture’s accuracy and dependability.
