How can you more effectively exude “the fragrance of grace within you” so that others are eager to share their journey with you?

To exude grace, I must first encounter the grace of God in my life. If I am aware of my interior world, I will be able to see the wretchedness of my doing things my own way to get the lesser desires that I will want. Thus convicted of my rebelliousness against God, I will be aware and grateful for the provisions of the gospel that allow me to be accepted and used by God. When I am thus enamoured with the gospel, I will not look down on another human being who is also an image-bearer of God. My posture will show true respect for him and interest to know him. Such is “the fragrance of grace” that invites a person to open up to share.

To exude the fragrance of grace, I think it is important to be regularly working through what Dr Crabb calls the Cycle of Spiritual Growth in our own lives. The process of brokenness, repentance, abandonment, confidence is important for our relationship with Christ if we are to release Christ’s energy in the form of a caring and humble passion. If other’s see our dependence on Christ and the wisdom that comes from hearing the Holy Spirit, they will have hope that sharing their journey with us will help them in their difficulties.

My passion for Christ needs to be seen in the way I live my life. As an image being I must reflect Christ and the wisdom of the Spirit.

When someone shares their journey reality, look them in the eye with a look of celebration that there is hope for them. Be curious about what is going on inside of them and begin thinking with a vision of what God might do in their life. Show love and LISTEN WITH CURIOSITY!
