How did the principle of two-way communication (prayer and Bible reading) impress you? Why?

I like this because it puts the emphasis more on a relationship and not so much on a to do list item to read my Bible.

I’ve always known this as relationships must go in both directions. Sometimes, prayer has been challenging when I viewed it as telling God my list of needs. I also learned that sometimes, I just need to sit quietly and listen without expectations.

Our relationship with God is a personal one. A monologue does not invite the growing of a relationship. God wants me to hear Him as well as wanting to hear from me.

When I read, I listen for God to enlighten me about the passage. Before I start reading, I ask Holy Spirit to open my ears and heart to hear clearly.

I cannot go throughout my day without the two-way communication. It matters!!! When I read the word and it hits me like it was personally written for me, it brightens my day. I can take a deep breath and carry on with my day. It gives me strength and lets me know that is is always going to be okay. No matter what …
