These are the two best ways to speak with God. Hearing what he has said in his Word, and how he wants me to act on it can only come from his Word and through a conversation with Him.

It is humbling to realize that we have been given the precious gift of a God with whom we can communicate back and forth on a very personal level. Knowing that the bible is God’s letter to us arouses my curiosity and feeds my appetite for knowing Him better and for being in the right state for any sort of transformation into His likeness. I like the emphasis on the importance of expressing our gratitude for Him.

The principle of two-way communication regarding prayer and Bible reading are interconnected and essential to spiritual growth. Prayer allows us to communicate with God. It is important to find a quiet place to pray, so you can wait patiently for God’s response. Bible reading is vital because God reveals His character through the biblical writings.

It impressed me because God uses both to communicate, and one is not more important then the other. They are both equally important and equally necessary for us to walk with God, so we don’t lose focus.

Praying a response to God’s Word takes our focus off of what we think we need and put’s it on what God is telling us we need.
