The concept of the “Why ” it is very important. It guides me to what I am, who am doing it for and why I am doing my purpose for teaching. It all leads to purpose.

We are not just teaching kids reading, math, science, and history – we are teaching them that they are called to use that information to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives!

It reminds me that the purpose of education is to train up Christians, not just future workers in the macroeconomy. Helping them learn the value of work matters in the context of the fact that it is scriptural to work. However, they need to learn the importance of spiritual formation and building a relationship with God.

These concepts discussed in this lesson apply to my spiritual formation classroom in a huge way. An implicit understanding in spiritual formation is not whether you are being formed, but by what are you being formed. Other worldviews have their own answers to the questions who am I, what am I here for, where am I going, and if we do not disciple children to know the answers to those questions based on a biblical worldview, they will be discipled elsewhere. We have a responsibility as adult Christians to raise up the next generation of followers of Jesus to know God, and this the answers to those big questions. How we live our lives depend on our answers to those questions.

These concepts can apply to my Band classroom through the music we play and perform. We understand that we serve God through music and we can bless communities in this process.
