I liked that this lesson reminds me that although I may be teaching a specific subject, the foundation of my teaching should always be Christ centered; this way students will also learn their value and purpose in Christ.

Christian philosophy answers the Big Questions of life. When we, as educators, know the answers to these questions from a Biblical worldview we will impart these to our students. Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going? As Christians, we have the answers! Because of God’s Word, we know that we are created by God, for a purpose, primarily to know and be known by Him. We are created beings, and not mistakes or some chance of luck. God wants to reveal His purpose, plan, and design to and for each of us. Ultimately, God’s Word answers the Big Questions of life, and as Christian educators, we have the privilege to point our students to the Truth.

Just as education is living, breathing, walking, talking, investing in children’s lives and the families. This lesson helped to reinforce that in all aspects of a Christian education the education should point back to God. A good Christian Education will answer the tough questions based upon the bedrock, the Bible, God’s Word. Remembering to raise up a generation to know God and know that “I am made in the image of God, and my life has purpose, and God is my Father.”

One of the significant concepts from this lesson that applies to the classroom is the imago dei. Every person is created in the image of God and therefore has immense potential and value. This makes a great impact in how we view students, parents, co-workers.

The concepts in this lesson will help me in my classroom daily. I teach 3rd grade and this is an age where kids are really trying to figure out who they are and where they belong. This lesson will help me show my students that God created them for a purpose and maybe help them on their path to learning their purpose.
