I am a first grade teacher at Victory Christian Academy. Before the beginning of any lesson, I remind my students that they are all God’s precious gifts to their parents and also to our school. I want them to know that they are all important to this world because God has given them a purpose and a promise. I enjoy teaching in a Christian environment because any time my students are feeling sad or unsure about their ability to learn, I always pray for them and remind them that God loves them and will only give them the best.

It is a good reminder that my work isn’t just to teach, but to show a Godly life in how I interact with the other teachers, with parents, and with the students. They are watching and listening me just as much, or more, as they are hearing lesson content.

As an art teacher, I often remind my students that art is communication, and they are to be mindful of what they are communicating. They need to know the answers to who they are and why they are here, to express those truths in art. I’m also reminded that I don’t really teach art. I teach children who need a savior.
